FSIS are a group of dedicated parents and carers who raise money for Southwood Infant School to spend on items that government funding does not stretch to, some of which are luxuries but also necessities too. We are a registered charity, number 1103531. We meet monthly in person or remotely to plan events and activities to raise these much-needed funds.

Recent funding has included:

  • The school’s library refurbishment completed in 2022
  • Books and resources for the Little Wandle phonics scheme
  • Small world and role play toys for all classes
  • Art supplies
  • PE benches
  • A stage for all school performances
  • Resources and aids for the PHSE curriculum
  • Outside workshops, dramatic performances and topic experts
  • And so much more!

How can YOU support Southwood Infant School?

It’s easy! Here are a few ways this can be achieved.

  • Recycle your clothing, shoes and textiles. You will find the recycling bin located on the left side by the bike store as you walk into the school grounds.
  • Play the Rushmoor Community Lottery. All you need to do is sign up from just £1 per week; just visit www.rushmoorlottery.co.uk and search for Southwood. You could win the £25,000 jackpot!
  • Shop online! Simply shop via www.easyfundraising.org.uk, set Southwood Infant School as your charity of choice and each purchase you make will raise money with no additional cost to yourself. There is even an app for your phone to make it that much easier and a donation reminder for your browser so you never miss an opportunity to raise funds.
  • Purchase name labels from Stikins and use the code 36091 on check out. Southwood will receive up to 30% of the order total. www.stikins.co.uk
  • Ask your employer if they do matched funding. Here’s an example of how it works. A parent that works for a company that offers matched funding volunteers on one of our stalls at a school event i.e.…Christmas Fayre. If the net profit made by their stall is £300 the parent’s employer then matches this amount with a contribution of up to £300. It really is that simple.
  • Ask your employer if they provide any community grants. If they do, fabulous! Please email southwoodfriends@hotmail.com and tell us more.
  • Ask your employer if they offer any charity volunteering days. Some employers allow several charity days per year so that you do not have to use your holiday allowance to help at events or in school.
  • Volunteer to spare an hour or so of your time to complete a few simple tasks in the comfort of your own home e.g. … wrapping Christmas presents for the Christmas fayre. This will be a massive help to prepare for upcoming events. More hands make light work.
  • Donate raffle prizes to the school. Chocolates, wine, smelly sets or any unwanted gifts would be greatly appreciated.

REMEMBER it’s never too late to join FSIS, Friends of Southwood Infant School. If you would like to join the fundraising committee, even if you can only spare a little of your time, you will be welcomed with open arms. Please email us or contact the school office for more information.
