A decision to close the school will only be taken if it is absolutely necessary. In making this decision we need to consider the number of teachers who are able to safely come into school to supervise your children and also any health and safety issues which may affect our school site.
We shall do our utmost to make any such decision by 7.30am in order to give those of you who need to organise childcare a little extra time to do so. A message will be sent via Parentmail® together with a text message, so please check your emails and keep your mobile phones switched on. We are aware, however, that the Parentmail® system can become extremely slow at times like this when lots of schools are trying to use it.
We will also post a message on our school’s website www.southwoodinfantschool.co.uk. We are also obliged to advise Hampshire County Council of such a decision, together with the local radio station. Details of school closures are then posted on the various websites, the details of which are below. However, please be aware that if large numbers of schools are reporting closures there may be delays in the websites being updated.
You can also telephone the school on 01252 375 420 and, weather permitting, there will be someone in school to take your call from 7.30am. Many thanks in anticipation of your co-operation and understanding. If you do have any questions please telephone the school office.
